This Simply Nutty Bar from Trader Joe’s was a tasty treat. It’s packed with nuts, as you can plainly see. That’s mostly a good thing, though we did think the texture of the different kinds of nuts was a bit inconsistent, and maybe a bit odd. Walnuts and almonds have distinctly different texture profiles, and when mixed together in one bite, the experience is a bit uneven. Yes, it was crispy and crunchy, but not ideal.
As for the flavor, it was sweet, but not overly so – thanks to the slightly savory dark chocolate, and the addition of sea salt to even it out.
Overall, this bar was good and tasty, but you’ve (obviously) gotta like the kinds of nuts that are in there. Also worth noting, it’s definitely more of a “treat” vs. an energy bar or something nutritious. Yes, it’s definitely better than eating a candy bar, but if you’re looking for an on-the-go, in-between meal snack, there are certainly more nutritious ways to get a pick-me-up.
