Notes
Egg Nog serves as the perfect base for many delicious holiday beverages. Some of our favorites are from Martha Stewart and Liqour.com.
In our opinion, the holidays are not complete without at least one glass of Egg Nog. Something about the milky, thick, creamy, nutmeg concoction really evokes warm memories of holidays past.
Egg Nog is surprisingly easy to make, but given that you’re dealing with uncooked egg whites, it’s not without its risks. Yes, we’ve cooked up a batch or two in our day with sensational results, but truthfully we’ll happily leave it to the professionals.
So how does this TJ’s version measure up? In short, it’s delicious. Egg Nog has a tendency to be too sweet, too spiced, or too thick, but this drink didn’t have those pitfalls. Instead, it is velvety smooth, subtly sweet with just a hint of nutmeg. It’s really well balanced and makes for a treat.
As a bonus, Trader Joe’s Egg Nog has no artificial flavors and the milk is from cows not treated with rBST – that’s very important in our view.
All told, we really enjoyed this seasonal drink, and we’re always sure to stock up on a few cartons when the winter holidays come around.
