Cooking Notes
We cooked a few different varieties of ready-made TJ’s sides at once, in a 350°F oven for 20-25 minutes. Not exactly as prescribed in the directions, but it worked perfectly in our tests.
Sometimes side dishes really make the meal, and this Thanksgiving season, we found some new and exciting side dish options at our local Trader Joe’s. With options like Cauliflower Gratin, we think it’s ok to cut a few corners on our Turkey Day prep.
So what did we think of this side dish? Overall, we were pleasantly surprised. It was crunchy, cheesy, flavorful and decadent. In short, we really enjoyed it. And it definitely turned out to be a crowd-pleaser. Truthfully, it almost tasted homemade.
Also on the table for our Test Thanksgiving dinner was Corn Pudding, Scalloped Potatoes with Quattro Formaggio, Carrot Souffle, Cornbread Stuffing Mix, and Kettle Cooked Turkey Gravy. The result? Our best test Thanksgiving yet!

Summary : We were pleasantly surprised with this side dish. It was crunchy, cheesy, flavorful and decadent.
I followed the directions (Cook for 30 min on 355º) but it had cold areas. Left it in another 10 minutes. Didn’t get crunchy but it was heated through. Tasted great. Next time I will let it cook a little longer as well as sprinkle some parmesan cheese mixed with panko bread crumbs on top to get a crunchy crust! It served two of us.
